For most local businesses in Ghaziabad, the Google Business Profile is seen far more often than the website. When someone searches “dry cleaners near me” in Indirapuram or “jeweller in Raj Nagar”, Google shows three businesses on a map before any website. If you are not in those three, most people never scroll to you.
Here is the checklist we use when we take over a profile. You can do most of it yourself in an afternoon.
1. Get the basics exactly right
- Business name: your real signboard name. Adding keywords like “Best SEO Company Ghaziabad” to the name breaks Google’s guidelines and can get the profile suspended.
- Primary category: the single most important ranking setting. Pick the most specific category that describes what you mainly do, then add 3–5 secondary categories.
- Address and service area: if customers visit you, show the address. If you only travel to customers, hide it and set service areas instead.
- Phone number: use a number that is answered during business hours, and the same number you use on your website.
- Hours, including holidays: wrong timings are one of the most common reasons for bad reviews.
2. Fill in everything Google gives you
Profiles with complete information tend to perform better than half-filled ones. Add your services or products with short descriptions, attributes (wheelchair access, online appointments, women-owned and so on), a 750-character description that says what you do and which areas you serve, and a booking or WhatsApp link.
3. Photos that actually help
Upload a clear shopfront photo so people recognise you from the road, interior photos, team photos and real work: products, before/after results, happy customers (with permission). Add a few new photos every month. Stock images do nothing for trust.
4. Build a steady review system
Reviews influence both ranking and the customer’s decision. The trick is consistency, not a one-time push:
- Create your review link from the profile dashboard and save it as a WhatsApp quick reply.
- Ask every satisfied customer at the moment they are happiest: right after delivery or service.
- Reply to every review within a couple of days, including negative ones. A calm, helpful reply to a bad review often wins more trust than ten five-star reviews.
- Never buy reviews or offer discounts in exchange for them. Google removes fake reviews and can penalise the profile.
5. Post weekly
Use Google Posts for offers, new products, festival timings and events. Posts keep the profile looking active and give customers a reason to call now.
6. Keep your details consistent everywhere
Your name, address and phone number (NAP) should match exactly on your website, Justdial, Facebook, Instagram and other listings. Inconsistent details confuse both Google and customers.
7. Connect your website properly
Link the profile to the most relevant page of your website (for multi-branch businesses, the branch page, not the homepage). Make sure that page mentions the same locality, has your address and embeds your Google Map.
8. Track what the profile brings in
Check the Performance section every month: calls, direction requests, website clicks and the searches people used to find you. If direction requests rise but calls do not, your phone may not be getting answered.
